According to Google Trends, after Trump was declared the winner on November 6, Indians searched for topics like ‘legal immigration’, ‘H1-B visa’ and ‘US birth citizenship’, while Americans searched for ‘how to go to India’ ‘ Search for questions like. The results of the US presidential election were declared on 6 November, in which the victory of Democrat candidate Donald Trump was declared. However, this worried not only the Indians but also the Americans. Donald Trump is known for his strict visa policy. According to Google Trends, Punjab remained at the forefront in this search. This is followed by Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Kerala. Indians also searched topics like ‘Stephen Miller’ in Google search. Stephen Miller, known for strict immigration policies, has been appointed by Trump as Deputy Chief of Staff. Under his leadership, the possibility of rejection of applications for work visas like H1B visa may increase. In India, Telangana, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu saw an increase in H1-B visa searches.

With Trump’s victory, concern over immigration and social issues has also increased in America. In America’s democratic states like Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Oregon and Minnesota, the number of questions like ‘How to go to Canada’ increased in Google searches. Additionally, there is growing concern among American women about potential restrictions on birth control methods. States like Mississippi, West Virginia, Alabama, Louisiana and Kentucky saw an increase in searches related to ‘birth control’ after Trump returned to power.
