America will make Javelin missile in India! Know why this weapon is special

The US has offered to manufacture its famous Javelin anti-tank missiles in India. To meet the needs of the Indian Army, both the countries are considering jointly manufacturing this state-of-the-art missile in India. This proposal was recently discussed during a high-level meeting between the two sides.

According to the US, it is ready to co-produce missiles and their launchers in India with an Indian partner. A decision on the joint venture partner will be taken only after the deal between the US and India is finalised for the production of Javelin anti-tank missiles in India. The Indian Army has been working to meet its needs for shoulder-fired anti-tank guided missiles, but its efforts have not been successful for the last decade.

Javelin missiles are shoulder-fired

During the escalating border conflict with China in the last few years, India bought Spike anti-tank guided missiles from Israel in an emergency situation. The development of an indigenous anti-tank guided missile is also underway and DRDO is working on it with its industrial partners. It has also been successfully tested recently. The Indian Army wants a shoulder-fired ATGM (anti-tank guided missile) that soldiers can easily carry in mountainous terrain.

Let us tell you that the US and India are discussing joint production of missiles and other weapon systems to increase cooperation in the defense sector, including joint production of military equipment, but so far there has not been much success in this area. If the ongoing discussion on co-production of Javelin anti-tank guided missile is successful, it will be a major achievement in the defense partnership of the two countries. Let us tell you that the Javelin missile can destroy any armored vehicle.

Know the power of anti-tank missile Javelin

The Javelin missile uses infrared technology to accurately hit its target. Its length is 108.1 cm. The missile launcher weighs 22.3 kg including the missile, which is equipped with day/night sight. The Javelin missile can accurately hit a target up to 2500 meters. This missile is considered most effective against tanks. It is also used to destroy small buildings and bunkers.

The US Army has been using the Javelin missile since 1996

The Javelin missile is known as a 'fire and forget' weapon. The target is locked before firing. After pressing the trigger, the missile destroys the predetermined target in self-guided mode in the blink of an eye. The US Army has been using the Javelin missile since 1996. Due to its small size and light weight, it can be fired from the shoulder and the Javelin missile can be easily deployed even in difficult geographical conditions.
