America: Relief to Trump before the presidential elections, Supreme ready to hear the Capitol violence case

Before the US general elections, the Supreme Court has given a big relief to Donald Trump. The Supreme Court said that being a former President, he should be given a second chance to prove his innocence in the 2020 Capitol Hill violence case. The court will now hear their arguments on April 22.

Appellate court rejects Trump's claim

Earlier on February 6, the Federal Appellate Court had dismissed him in this case. The court rejected his claim of 'legal immunity'. Legal immunity is the legal situation in which a person or entity cannot be held responsible for violating the law.

Supreme Court agrees with Trump's argument

Trump told the Supreme Court that he is a former President and hence he cannot be prosecuted. After this the Supreme Court accepted his argument.

The date of the trial will affect the political future

The court's decision is being seen as a major victory for Trump, the top contender of the Republican Party in the country before the presidential elections. In fact, the date of this trial will also affect Trump's political future. The Republican Party wants a delay in the trial date.

If Trump wins the election, he can dismiss the cases

If Trump defeats President Joe Biden in the election, he could use his position to order the attorney general to dismiss the cases against him, or he could pardon himself.
