Russia Ukraine War: In the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine has now started using secret missiles given by America against Russia.
This missile is also known as MGM-140 ATACMS i.e. Army Tactical Missile System. US President Joe Biden has secretly agreed to supply this long-range missile to Ukraine. On March 12, it was secretly included in a $300 million arms package announced for Ukraine. Earlier this month, MGM-140 ATACMS missile reached Ukraine.
Earlier, the US government had expressed concern about giving this missile to Ukraine. The US had doubts about Ukraine's preparation and ability to operate the missile. The MGM-140 ATACMS missile is manufactured by Lockheed Martin Company of America and about 500 missiles are produced every year.
US Defense Department spokesman Major Charlie Dietz said: 'We had previously ensured that the missile could be properly operated by Ukraine. Also, after Russia used North Korea's missile against Ukraine, America has decided to give MGM-140 ATACMS missile to Ukraine.
After receiving the delivery of these missiles, Ukraine has shown no hesitation in using them. American officials said that this missile was used in the attack carried out by Ukraine in Crimea. The range of this missile is 300 kilometers.
The Vice Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said, 'This is the right time to provide long-range missiles to Ukraine. Russia is attacking Ukraine more aggressively. Due to this, Ukraine demanded a long-range missile system from America. The missiles supplied to Ukraine are capable of attacking multiple Russian military targets.
