India is currently focusing on multi-role fighter aircraft. Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon are already in competition. Meanwhile, American company Boeing has given its offer to India.
Boeing said, buy new F-15EX fighter jet from us. More powerful fighter jet will be available at lower price. Along with this, the Indian Air Force can also deploy its weapons in it. Boeing also said that the fighter jet can be modified as per India's geographical conditions and requirements. We will make changes in the fighter planes as per the needs of India.
This modification can be done to avionics, sensors or communication systems. Along with this, the hardpoint installed in the weapon can also be modified or new according to the Indian weapons. This offer is very attractive for the Government of India.
Power of F-15EX fighter jet
Recently, Boeing Company has increased the speed of its fighter planes. Earlier it could fly only at a maximum speed of 3000 km per hour. But now its speed has increased to 3704 km per hour. This jet is flown by one or two pilots. It is very big in size. The 63.9 feet long jet has a wingspan of 42.9 feet. The weight of this 18.6 feet long aircraft is about 15,694 kg.
Maximum take-off weight, i.e. take-off weight when armed, is approximately 36,741 kg. It has two General Electric engines which give it a power of 131 kilonewtons.
The combat range of F-15EX is 1272 km. If we talk about flight range, it can fly up to 3900 kilometers with three external fuel tanks. It can reach a maximum height of 60 thousand feet. It can fly straight at a speed of 50 thousand feet per minute. Currently it has a 20 mm cannon that fires 500 rounds per minute. Furthermore, it has 23 hardpoints. That means weapons can be deployed in full quantity.
These hardpoints reside under the wing pylons, fuselage pylons and bomb racks. You can fit 12 missiles in this jet. That means three types of air-to-air missiles. Apart from this, it is equipped with three air-to-ground missiles and two types of bombs. It has Raytheon's AESA radar. There are targeting pods. Countermeasures systems are in place.
The F-15EX fighter jet is larger in size compared to Rafale. It has similar power, range and speed capabilities to the Su-30MKI of the Indian Air Force. The Su-30MKI currently has the capability to mount 22 types of weapons. This also includes hypersonic weapons.
