T20 World Cup 2024: South Africa registered a spectacular victory by 18 runs in the first Super-8 match of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. The match played between South Africa and USA witnessed a fierce clash. USA's performance in the run chase was surprising. While chasing the target of 195 runs given by South Africa, the USA team batted brilliantly. Till the 18th over of USA's innings, it seemed that they could turn the tables once again by winning this match. However, the tables turned in the 19th over.
Kagiso Rabada turned the match around
In the 19th over, Kagiso Rabada turned the tables. He took the wicket of Harmeet Singh, who was batting brilliantly, on the very first ball of this over. Harmeet, who scored 38 runs in 21 balls, tried to play a big shot but was caught out on the boundary. After Harmeet's wicket, the USA team came to its knees. Rabada gave only 2 runs in this over. Due to which this match came in the possession of South Africa.
American batsmen batted brilliantly
Earlier, USA batsmen needed 50 runs to win in 3 overs. Andries Goose and Harmeet Singh batted brilliantly together and scored 22 runs. After this the match started going in favor of USA. USA needed 28 runs to win, but Kagiso Rabada turned the tables with his stormy bowling. After scoring about 2 runs in Rabada's over, the USA team could score only 7 runs in the last over and lost the match by 18 runs.

Kagiso Rabada was the star of this match from South Africa. He gave around 18 runs in 4 overs and took 3 wickets. Keshav Maharaj, Enrique Nortje and Tabrez Shamsi got one wicket each. Andreas Goos performed brilliantly for USA. Goos scored 80 runs in 47 balls with the help of 5 fours, 5 sixes at a strike rate of 170.21. In the lower order, Harmeet Singh scored 38 runs in 22 balls with 2 fours, 3 sixes. However, he could not lead the team to victory. After winning this match, South Africa has secured 2 points in Super-8. Now their next match will be against England on 21 June.
