The US on Thursday said that India's elections are the largest exercise of deprivation of electoral franchise in any country. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said this in his daily press conference. He said, “We are very impressed with the elections held in India. This was the largest exercise of electoral franchise in any country in history.”
However, Miller avoided giving a clear answer to this question and said that it is for the people of India to decide. He said, “I will not say anything about the elections in India, except that we have already said that it is the job of the people of India to decide on election related issues.”
outright refusal to interfere
Matthew Miller has reacted to the elections held in India earlier as well. Recently he said, “On behalf of America, we congratulate the Government of India and its voters for successfully organizing such a big election and being a part of it.” Do not comment on the losers as it happens all over the world. The important thing for us is that we saw the biggest exercise of democracy in history, where the people of India came out of their homes to vote. ” Matthew Miller talked about various reports of interference in Indian elections by Western countries including America.
Congratulations to the people of India
The board of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), an India-focused trade and business group in the US, said about the elections, “Our organization has delivered a historic victory to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). We wish you all the best for your third consecutive victory in the 2024 general elections.” In its statement, the USISPF board also congratulated the citizens of India for adding a new chapter to the country's “glorious democratic history”.
