Amandeep, accused in Hardeep Nijhar murder case, appears in court, orders to appear again on May 21

Ottawa: An Indian citizen accused in the murder of a Khalistan supporter appeared in a Canadian court. The court has ordered him to appear again on May 21 along with three co-accused arrested in the case. On June 18, 2023, Khalistan supporter Hardeep Singh Nijhar was killed outside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia.

Amandeep Singh, the 22-year-old suspect in Nijhar's murder, appeared virtually in Surrey court on Wednesday. They are in the custody of Peel Regional Police. Before Amandeep's appearance, more than two dozen people gathered outside the court room and were waving flags in support of Khalistan. Amandeep was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder on May 11.
