Kathua 06 May (HS). On the third day of Shrimad Bhagwat Katha being organized by Shri Brahmin Sabha on the occasion of Lord Shri Parshuram Jayanti, revered saint Shri Subhash Shastri Ji Maharaj, while showering his divine sermons on the present gathering, said, explaining the importance of company of truth, satsang. Said that bad company is a poison. For one whose company is spoiled, gradually everything gets spoiled. Due to bad company, not only the present gets spoiled but the future also gets spoiled. Therefore, considering bad company to be poison, always be afraid of it and stay in the company of truth only, because satsang creates alertness in the mind.
Shastri ji said that the one who is alert from within is a sannyasi despite being worldly and the one who is not alert from within is still worldly despite being a sannyasi. The name of awakening is renunciation. Just as a magnet attracts iron, renunciation attracts truth. You should never take the meaning of sannyasa to mean that one who leaves home is a sannyasi, in reality the one who, despite living in this world, follows the household life while following the truth, is the ultimate sannyasi in the eyes of religion. Shastri ji further explained that we tell you again and again in satsang and katha that you should always be afraid of bad company and only associate with truth because it is your welfare only. Satsang means company of truth and truth is God, truth is the soul, truth is our existence, truth is our form, truth is our own self. Therefore, we should associate with anyone without truth. In the end, Shastri ji explained that whenever a jewel was made, gold never left it, similarly, whenever we got a body, truth never left us. In this human body, in the satsang of the Satguru, if the living being becomes aware of himself and his unborn, imperishable, true form, then he can be freed from the fear of birth and death forever. This is the only difference between Kusang and Satsang. Therefore, always be in the company of truth and do satsang, it will definitely be beneficial for you.
