Alpha Box Office Day 16: The makers’ 16th-day collections have raised concerns, will this spy-universe film be limited in two weeks before ‘Dhamal 4’? Will this spy-universe film be overshadowed by ‘Dhamaal 4’ in just two weeks

The high-budget spy thriller film ‘Alpha’ starring Bollywood superstars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh created a huge buzz among the fans and trade experts before its release, but the film has completely failed to repeat the same charisma at the box office. The makers expected this ambitious film of Yash Raj Films (YRF Spy Universe) to create a stir on the big screen, but since its release in theaters on July 3, the film is continuously struggling to attract the audience. The remaining work has been completed by the recently released films. After Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, Ajay Devgan’s much-awaited comedy drama ‘Dhamaal 4’ has now hit the theatres, which has dashed the remaining hopes of ‘Alpha’ to survive at the box office.

‘Alpha’ remained breathless even in the third weekend: Saturday collection of 16th day revealed

The fast-paced action of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh in the film and the brilliant acting of Bobby Deol as the villain got mixed reactions from critics and audiences, but this praise could not be translated into business. Made on a huge budget, this film was struggling to bring the audience to the theaters even in its third weekend. According to the latest data of box office tracker website Sacnilk.com, the film ‘Alpha’ has registered a very weak collection of just ₹ 0.45 crore (Rs 45 lakh) on the 16th day of its release (Saturday). Just a day before this, i.e. on the 15th day (Friday), the business of the film was reduced to only ₹ 0.25 crore, which clearly shows that now the audience has completely distanced itself from this film.

The need to pack up bags and bedding within two weeks: Even making the budget became difficult for the makers.

If we look at the film’s journey so far, ‘Alpha’ had an average start at the box office with ₹9.25 crore on its opening day. After this, the film somehow did a net business of ₹47.45 crore in the first week. But the real decline was seen in its second week, when the film’s collection dropped to only ₹8.95 crore. After 16 days of continuous efforts, the total net collection of ‘Alpha’ at the Indian box office has so far reached only about ₹ 57.10 crore. Considering the huge production and VFX cost of the film, trade pundits are considering this figure as a big failure and it is being speculated that the film will be completely removed from the theaters very soon.

The film is a part of YRF spy universe: Even Hrithik Roshan’s cameo could not save Naiya

‘Alpha’ is directed by Netflix’s very popular and appreciated series ‘The Railway Man’ fame director Shiv Rawail. The first female-centric film of the YRF spy universe, the film stars Alia and Sharvari along with powerhouse performers like Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in the lead roles. To surprise the audience, a special cameo of superstar Hrithik Roshan was also included in the film, but due to weak screenplay and dull story, even this star power could not save the film from sinking.

Double attack of ‘Dhamal 4’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ at the box office: ‘Alpha’ lags behind in the competition.

Continuous big releases in theaters are also being considered as one of the main reasons behind the flop of ‘Alpha’. At the time of its release, the film competed with Shahid Kapoor’s suspense drama ‘Cocktail 2’, Akshay Kumar’s heavy-hitting ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’, Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Main Wapas Aaunga’ and the horror genre’s ‘Haunted 3D Echoes of the Past’. Amidst this multi-competition, Ajay Devgan’s recently released ‘Dhamal 4’ has made such a strong hold at the box office that now it has become a big challenge for ‘Alpha’ to save screens and shows.
