The agitation of students continues demanding cancellation of the 70th Combined Preliminary Examination of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and re-conducting the examination. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government is being accused of turning away from the demands of the students.
Government gave “free hand” to BPSC
BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who returned from Delhi on Monday evening, on Tuesday morning. After the meeting, Samrat Chaudhary told the media:
“BPSC is an autonomous body. The Commission is free to take any decision regarding the students. The government has given a completely free hand to BPSC.”
Chaudhary stressed that earlier governments used to control the commission, but the current government has made it completely autonomous.
Demonstration in Gardanibagh, march from Gandhi Maidan to CM House
- On Sunday, BPSC candidates gathered at Gandhi Maidan and marched to the Chief Minister’s residence.
- Police used water cannon and lathi charge on the protesters near JP Golambar.
- The protest intensified after this incident, and the students accused the government of adopting a repressive attitude.
Chirag Paswan and Prashant Kishore expressed their displeasure
- Union Minister Chirag Paswan:
Condemning the lathi charge, he said that he has spoken to the government and the Chief Secretary is communicating with the students.
Chirag appealed to the protesters not to fall into any political trap. - Prashant Kishore:
Prashant Kishore has given an ultimatum of 48 hours to the government. A case has been registered against him accusing him of instigating the students.
Prashant Kishore was present in Sunday’s march but left before the lathi charge.

Purnia MP Pappu Yadav met outgoing Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. After this, Raj Bhavan called BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai and took information. - Opposition Attack:

- MLAs of Congress and Left parties marched to Raj Bhavan on Tuesday demanding answers from the government on this issue.
Chief Secretary talked to the agitators
Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena met a delegation of agitators on Monday.
