Prayagraj, 22 August (HS). The Allahabad High Court has fixed September 09 for hearing the revision petition filed seeking a survey of the Wazukhana located in the Gyanvapi complex in Varanasi by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The court has given two weeks' time to the petitioner to reply to the counter affidavit of Anjuman Intezamia Masjid. In this case, a counter affidavit was filed on behalf of Anjuman Intezamia Masjid. Petitioner Rakhi Singh sought time to reply to this, on which the court granted time to the petitioner and fixed September 9 for the next hearing.
In the monitoring petition, the main plaintiff of the Shringar Gauri case, Rakhi Singh, has challenged the order of the District Court. The District Court had rejected the petition, refusing to intervene in the matter due to the Supreme Court's order to maintain the status quo on the spot. The petitioner says that just as the ASI survey of the entire premises of Gyanvapi has been done. In the same way, an ASI survey of the sealed Wazukhana should also be done except the Shivlinga figure so that the real character of the Wazukhana will be known.
Two years ago, the entire washroom was sealed after a Shivling figure was found in the Gyanvapi complex during a survey by the court commissioner. The petitioner says that the entire washroom should be surveyed without causing any damage except the Shivling figure.
