Allahabad High Court: High Court strict in the case of objectionable remarks on Dr. Ambedkar, petitions of both the accused rejected

The Allahabad High Court has refused to grant any judicial relief to Ayush Thakur and Abhay, accused of making objectionable and inflammatory comments on Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on social media. The court rejected the plea of both the petitioners in which they had sought quashing of the FIR registered against them and a stay on the police arrest.

The case is registered in Khurja police station of Bulandshahr.

This entire matter is of Khurja Nagar police station of Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. On April 15, 2026, a police complaint was lodged against both the accused. It is alleged that through his social media profile, he has referred to Constitution maker Dr. B.R. He had made extremely objectionable comments about Ambedkar that spread enmity in the society, which caused huge anger among the local people and supporters.

Court rejected the argument of ‘ID being hacked’

By filing a petition in the High Court, both the accused had claimed that they did not post this themselves, but some unknown person had done this by hacking their social media ID. On this basis, he had requested for cancellation of the case registered against him.

However, the government lawyer appearing on behalf of the state government strongly opposed this petition. The government lawyer informed the court that in the initial investigation by the police, evidence has been found that the posts were made by the petitioners themselves. He said that such comments had created a serious situation for social harmony and law and order, hence relief should not be given to the accused.

High Court’s tough stance

After hearing the arguments of both the parties, Allahabad High Court accepted that it is not appropriate to interfere or stop the police investigation process in such sensitive cases. The court made it clear that an impartial investigation into the case will continue and rejected the petition of the petitioners seeking cancellation of the FIR.
