This decision has been taken in view of heavy rains in Delhi and the waterlogging caused by it. Late on Wednesday night, Education Minister Atishi wrote on Twitter, 'In view of the heavy rain this evening and the possibility of heavy rain tomorrow, all schools (government and private) will remain closed tomorrow (Thursday).' Heavy rain has occurred in the entire Delhi NCR. The weather will remain bad on Thursday as well. Heavy rain may occur in many areas of Delhi on Thursday as well.
In some areas of Delhi, about 100 mm of rain fell in just one hour. Due to this, there was a problem of waterlogging and traffic jam at many places. People were stuck in the jam for hours. Even a distance of a few kilometers could be covered in several hours. As a precaution, the government decided to close the schools.
It is worth noting that on July 27, three UPSC students died due to drowning in the basement of a coaching institute in Old Rajendra Nagar due to heavy rains. In such a situation, the government does not want to take any risk. All schools and coaching institutes have been asked to be extra cautious.
