Prayagraj, 10 October (Hindustan Reporter). Today, electricity is essential for development in every region of the world. Without this, the machinery of development of all the animals, plants, trees and humans on earth is incomplete. The biggest source of energy on this earth is the Sun. Weather and climate changes on Earth occur due to the energy of the Sun. Converting the sun's energy into electrical energy is called solar energy. Keeping in view that electricity consumption is more than electricity production, the state government is emphasizing on solar energy.
According to the information received from the District Information Department, under the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy-2022, Ayodhya city is being developed as a model solar city for the first time in the state. The objective of this scheme is that 10 percent of the total electricity load of the city will be met through renewable energy, under which solar power plants are being established in Ayodhya City as well as in other 16 municipal corporations.
Under the “Solar City Programme”, proposals are received through the Municipal Commissioner and work is done after the approval of the State Level Committee. In the current year, Rs 15.75 crore has been invested in Ayodhya Solar City. And Rs 40 crore in other solar cities. Budget provision has been made, which will reduce the electricity load of municipal corporations. Under Ayodhya Solar City, in the year 2023-24, 766 numbers of smart solar street lights, 2300 solar street lights, 250 numbers of solar high masts, on-grid solar power plants of 3.33 MW capacity, off-grid solar power plants of 50 kW capacity and 06 metric capacity solar power plants will be installed. 01 no. of solar based cold storage, 40 solar trees (01 kW). Installation work of 18 solar trees (2.5 kW), 10 water kiosks has been completed. Also, 02 solar boats are being operated on Saryu river. Apart from this, a 40 MW solar plant has been established on the banks of Saryu in Ayodhya city. The 10.25 kilometer stretch in Ayodhya city, which is situated on the banks of river Saryu from Laxman Fort to Nirmali Kund, has been illuminated by installing 487 smart solar street lights.
Under the Ayodhya Solar City Programme, in the financial year 2024-25, like last year, the process of developing Ayodhya city as the first model solar city of the state is in progress. Work has also been done in other municipal corporations of the state under the Solar City programme. Under the Solar City program, 500 solar street lights, 100 solar high masts, 10 solar trees (01 kW), 04 solar based drinking water kiosks and 200 smart solar street lights will be installed under the Solar City Scheme in the area of Varanasi Municipal Corporation for the financial year 2024-25. Installation work is being done. 1512 solar street lights and 200 smart solar street lights have been installed in Varanasi in 2023-24.
Under the Solar City Scheme, the work of installation of 200 solar street lights and 25 solar high masts is being done in the area of Jhansi Municipal Corporation. In the year 2023-24, 150 solar street lights and 20 smart street lights were installed in Jhansi Municipal Corporation. Under the Solar City Scheme, installation work of 600 solar street lights and 50 solar high masts is being done in the area of Agra Municipal Corporation. Last year, 200 smart solar street lights, 100 solar high masks and 20 solar trees were installed. Under the Solar City Scheme, the work of installation of 90 solar high masts and 550 solar street lights is being done in the area of Aligarh Municipal Corporation. 39 smart solar street lights and 35 solar heritage highmast have also been installed.
Under the Solar City Scheme in the area of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, the work of installation of 05 Solar Heritage High Mast, 02 Solar Tree, 05 Solar High Mast and 02 Solar Waste Drinking Water Kiosks is being done. 460 solar street lights have been installed. Under the Solar City Scheme in Lucknow, work of installation of 30 smart solar street lights, 60 solar high masts and 800 solar street lights is being done. 244 solar high masts, 100 solar street lights and 10 solar trees have been installed. Under the Solar City Scheme in Kanpur, the work of installation of 20 solar heritage high masts, 310 solar high masts, 02 solar based drinking water kiosks, 02 solar trees, 1000 solar street lights and 75 kilowatt on-grid solar power plant is being done. 100 solar heritage high masts, 170 high masts, 1600 solar street lights have been installed. Under the Solar City Scheme in Ghaziabad, work of installation of 500 solar high masts, 160 kilowatt capacity on-grid solar power plants and 200 solar street lights is being done. 100 high smart, 100 solar street lights have been installed.
Under the Solar City Scheme in Shahjahanpur, the work of installation of 10 solar high masts, 100 solar street lights, 10 kilowatt capacity off-grid solar power plant and 1 solar tree (1 kilowatt) is being done. 11 solar high masts, 100 solar street lights, 2 solar trees have been installed. Under Solar City Scheme in Moradabad, 5 solar high masts, 5 solar based drinking water kiosks, 4 solar trees in Moradabad. The work of installation of 4 kilowatt capacity off-grid solar power plant and 20 solar street lights is being done. 70 solar high masts and 150 solar street lights have been installed. Under the Solar City Scheme in Firozabad, the work of installation of 55 solar high masts, 260 solar street lights and 2 e-charging stations is being done. 150 Solar Street solar light trees have been installed. Under the Solar City Scheme in Mathura, work of installation of 50 smart solar street lights, 70 solar high masts and 10 solar heritage high masts is being done. The work of installation of 100 smart solar streets has been completed.
Under the Solar City Scheme in Gorakhpur, work of installation of 175 smart solar street lights, 100 solar high masts and 1000 solar street lights is being done. 220 smart solar street lights, 700 solar lights have been installed. Under the Solar City Scheme in Saharanpur, the work of installation of 02 smart solar street lights, 02 solar high masts, 02 solar trees, and 350 solar street lights is being done. Off-grid power plants of 2 kilowatt each have been established in 20 primary schools. Last year, 80 solar high masts and 720 solar streets have been established in Bareilly. The state government is continuously working to ensure that the necessary electricity is supplied by producing electricity from solar energy as per the city rules of the state.
