All deliveries should take place in hospitals so that proper care can be taken of the mother and child: Anandiben Patel

Varanasi, March 01 (HS). Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Friday distributed kits for strengthening Anganwadi centres. Governor Anandiben Patel, who reached Varanasi on a two-day visit, participated in the program organized at the Commissionerate Auditorium located at Kachari. After giving kits to Anganwadi centers in collaboration with GAIL India Limited in the program, the Governor appreciated the efforts of everyone for the various MOUs signed today.

Governor Anandiben Patel said that everyone will get positive results in the future. Earlier this department was not a priority of the governments, tasks were imposed on the officers. Today's child is our future tomorrow, if we pay attention to him today then he will prove helpful in making India a world leader tomorrow. The Governor enumerated the efforts made during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 1998. He told how the ICDS Unit and the Women and Child Development Department came into existence and major welfare schemes gradually came into existence on the national platform. The Governor said that in the last few years, such facilities have become available in 12000 Anganwadi centres.

He also praised Varanasi Chief Development Officer Himanshu Nagpal for the efforts being made in this direction from the stage. He said that if children get good maintenance and care before and after birth, then health problems can be controlled to a great extent. All deliveries should take place in hospitals so that proper care of mother and child can be taken at the time of birth. He mentioned the discrimination between sons and daughters in the society.

Anandiben Patel said that by distributing these types of kits, children who are slow learners can be identified and by taking proper care of them in time, they can be brought into the category of good children. She inspired early detection to prevent the increasing cases of cancer in women. He said that an MoU has been signed today in Lucknow in which village-to-village investigation will be done with the help of Bharat Electronics Limited. Women will benefit from this. She inspired various companies to use their CSR to spend on women and girls. He told that in Uttar Pradesh alone, about 15 lakh women are suffering from cancer. To prevent this, we should get tested for early detection. Gradually, there is a change in the society towards women, girls are now moving forward being conscious about their career.

In the program, State Government Cabinet Minister Anil Rajbhar told about the Governor's continuous efforts in this direction. State AYUSH Minister Dr. Dayashankar Mishra 'Dayalu' expressed his gratitude to the Governor for taking care of women, mothers and children. District Panchayat President Poonam Maurya also expressed his views in the program.

Chief Development Officer Himanshu Nagpal expressed his gratitude towards the Governor and the Varanasi administration for their continuous support. CDO said that GAIL India Limited ensured distribution of kits at 500 centers today. In the past too, kits have been distributed to 715 centres. So far 1419 centers have been rejuvenated. Nutrition gardens have been established at 2500 centres. As a result of various health efforts, out of 25,000 children identified, 9,000 have been completely cured by treatment. The attendance of children at Anganwadi centers has increased from 45 percent to 80 percent. Continuous administrative efforts are going on to make this 100 percent.

The CDO said that Varanasi has remained at the first position on the nutrition tracker for the last one year. To make women self-reliant, teaching of coding under the name 'Digital Didi' will be started.
