All booths will be monitored through CCTV in assembly elections: Ravi Kumar

Ranchi, 09 November (HS). Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has said that every counting center will be under CCTV surveillance in the assembly elections. He said that conducting transparent and error-free voting is the priority of the Election Commission. That is why the polling stations will also be monitored from the Chief Electoral Office, Dhurva with the help of webcasting along with CCTV.

Kumar was holding a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan in Dhurwa on Saturday. He said that during the last Lok Sabha elections, three mistakes had come to light through these mediums, which were rectified in time. He said that the officers and personnel deployed at the polling stations will have the ASD list. The list will contain details of those who have died, those who have shifted to some other place and those who are absent voters. With this, the possibility of duplication will be negligible.

He said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal materials and cash worth Rs 1 billion, 66 crore, 82 lakh have been seized in the state. In this, the state police has seized the maximum amount of Rs 121 crore 96 lakh. The Commercial Tax Department has seized Rs 8.43 crore, the Excise Department has seized Rs 7.31 crore, the Forest Department has seized Rs 7.22 crore and the Income Tax Department has seized Rs 1.62 crore.
