Rain Update: People troubled by the scorching heat have got relief from the changing weather patterns. According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department (India Meteorological Department – IMD), today (12 May 2024) there may be light to moderate rain in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada and Rajasthan. Along with this, there is also a possibility of hailstorm in some areas. At the same time, an alert of hailstorm along with storm has been issued in Uttarakhand, Central Maharashtra and Western Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, warning of rain along with dust storm has been issued in Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.
Earlier on May 11, the Meteorological Department had said that rains with thunderstorms may continue in North India till May 12. There was a possibility of lightning and strong winds till 13 May in Eastern India and till 15 May in Central and South Peninsular India.
Weather condition in Delhi
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding the storm in Delhi today. It may rain with thunder and lightning. There are chances of rain in Delhi till May 13. This will cause a slight drop in temperature. There may be severe heat from the middle of next week. The temperature will once again reach the level of 41 to 42 degrees. According to IMD, the maximum temperature of Delhi can remain between 37 to 42 degrees Celsius throughout this week. The minimum temperature is expected to be between 24 to 28 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Delhi on Saturday was 39 degrees and this is normal. The minimum temperature was 27.7 degrees. It was 3 degrees more than normal. At some places the maximum temperature remained above 40 degrees.
Weather condition in other states of the country
According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, during the next 24 hours, parts of Northeast India, West Bengal, Odisha, Karnataka, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Light to moderate rain may occur over Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. During this period, strong winds can blow at a speed of 40-50 km per hour.
