3. Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is used in many household items such as furniture, carpet, and nail polish products. This chemical can increase the risk of skin, nose and throat cancer. Avoid purchasing products that smell of formaldehyde.

4. Phthalates
Phthalates are used to make plastic products flexible. This chemical can cause hormone imbalance and is believed to increase the risk of certain types of cancer. Choose products labeled phthalate-free.

5. Acrylamide
