Whenever the pair of Bollywood’s ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar and famous director Priyadarshan come together, they create new history in theatres. After ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, both are in the headlines for their much awaited psycho-thriller film ‘Haiwaan’. In the recently released first look poster of the film, Akshay Kumar’s negative i.e. villain character has increased the curiosity of the fans. However, now the film’s director Priyadarshan has made a shocking revelation that Akshay Kumar was not his first choice for this creepy character. Priyadarshan initially wanted to cast two other Bollywood actors in the role.
Search for villain started after Saif Ali Khan’s entry: Bobby Deol had rejected the script
In an interview given to the media during the film promotion, Priyadarshan revealed many unheard secrets about the star cast of ‘Haivaan’. Priyadarshan told that when he first narrated the story of the film to actor Saif Ali Khan, Saif curiously asked who would play the villain opposite him. After this, Priyadarshan first approached ‘Rockstar’ Bobby Deol for this role. However, Bobby Deol did not like the script of the film much and he refused the project. Priyadarshan clarified that it was not Bobby’s fault in not liking the script.

After Bobby Deol’s refusal, Priyadarshan considered the name of actor Akshaye Khanna. Had a phone conversation with Akshaye Khanna and also called Priyadarshan to meet him. There was also a fear in Priyadarshan’s mind that if Akshay Khanna refused, he would go to Sunil Shetty. Meanwhile, Priyadarshan was shooting for his second film ‘Bhoot Bangla’, where on the set itself he narrated the story of ‘Haivaan’ to Akshay Kumar. Akshay Kumar liked the concept of the film and the character of the villain so much that he immediately said yes to it. In this way Priyadarshan got the perfect villain for his film.
