Mumbai: Akshay Kumar's 'Sarafira' has earned only 2.5 crores on the first day. This collection is not much less than the expectations of a film of an actor like Akshay Kumar. Akshay's last film 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' was also a hit at the box office. Actually, Akshay Kumar has not been able to give any big hit film in the last few years.
Deccan Airlines founder Captain Gopinath's biopic 'Sarafira' is a remake of the original Tamil film 'Surrai Potturu'. Tamil actor Surya's film has been available on OTT for a long time and most of the audience has seen it. Therefore, trade experts say that Akshay has chosen a completely wrong film.
According to the box office circles, the advance booking of the film was very poor from the beginning. The first day collection across India is barely 2.5 crores. In many theatres, even 10 percent of the seats were barely filled. However, Akshay's acting in the film has been praised. Therefore, the collection may increase a little during the weekend due to word of mouth publicity. But, overall, another flop film has been written in the book of Akshay's career.
Trade circles say that Akshay is going through the weakest phase of his career. Now some producers will hesitate to bet big investments on him. In any case, Akshay has become the producer himself for most of his films for some time now. Akshay's last film 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' flopped, its producer Vasu Bhagnani was in debt of 250 crores and Akshay had to pay his fees for this film.
