Lucknow, 05 July (HS). Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that SP has been following the principles and ideas of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and Chaudhary Charan Singh and the struggle of Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav and the path shown by him. Farmers and village farming along with rural development have been the priority of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and Chaudhary Charan Singh. Farmers have always been the priority of SP. Till the time a government of farmers is not formed, the welfare of farmers cannot be done.
Akhilesh Yadav, while addressing the delegation of Bhartiya Kisan Union Tikait group at SP headquarters on Friday, said that injustice is being done to farmers at every level in the BJP government. The BJP government did not build a market for the sale of farmers' crops. Farmers were not given the fair price of their crops i.e. Minimum Support Price (MSP) while the cost of production of crops is increasing. The prices of pesticides and fertilizers are continuously increasing. Due to lack of adequate electricity supply in the villages, paddy transplantation is not being done on time.
The leaders of Bharatiya Kisan Union congratulated Akhilesh Yadav for his huge victory in the Lok Sabha elections and for becoming the third largest party in the country and said that farmers have a lot of expectations from him in the future. The farmer leaders recalled that in the Samajwadi government, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had implemented many schemes in the interest of farmers. In the SP government, 75 percent of the budget was allocated for rural development and development of villages and agriculture.
He expressed hope that the Samajwadi Party MPs will raise the voice of the farmers of the country in the Lok Sabha. In the upcoming 2027 assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party will form a government with full majority in Uttar Pradesh.
The delegation of Kisan Union thanked Akhilesh Yadav for strongly raising the issues of farmers like free electricity, sugarcane, payment, loan waiver in Lok Sabha and said that the farmers of the country are now looking towards him.
