Chandigarh, July 5 (HS). Additional Chief Secretary of Energy Department Haryana IAS AK Singh said that so far 3.5 lakh houses in Haryana have registered under Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana and Haryana Electricity Department will install solar roof top on 5 lakh houses by 2030. He was addressing a workshop organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Electricity Department to promote solar power in Haryana at PHD House, Chandigarh.
He informed that the Government of India has set a target of 500 GW from solar energy by 2030 and this is possible through the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. On this occasion, Director General of HAREDA IFS S. Narayanan said that the draft of solar policy in the state is ready and will be notified soon. This will give the much needed boost to the solar industry in the state. He informed that the state government is working hard to promote solar water pumps and is giving subsidy up to 75 percent to the farmers. He informed that Haryana is number one in the country in terms of use of solar water pumps. Earlier, welcoming the chief guest, other dignitaries and members of the industry, Nischay Bahl, Co-Convener, Tourism and Hospitality Committee, Punjab State Chapter of PHDCCI said that energy security and climate change are of paramount concern in today's times and the government's proactive stance on renewable energy, especially solar energy, is both timely and visionary.
Parv Arora, Convener, Regional Solar and Power Committee, PHDCCI raised the concerns of the solar industry and mentioned issues related to net metering and distribution of subsidy for installation of solar roof tops in the state. Moderating the session, Ms Bharti Sood, Regional Director, PHDCCI said that PHD Chamber is the voice of the industry and acts as a bridge between the industry and governments. She thanked the officials of Haryana Power Department for their participation and addressing the issues of the industry.
