NSA Ajit Doval reconstituted the NSCS: India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has made major changes in his NSCS (National Security Coordination Secretariat) team. TV Ravichandran, Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau and 1990 batch IPS, has been appointed as India's new Deputy NSA. 1990 batch IFS Pawan Kapoor has also been made Deputy NSA. He has also worked in various Indian missions abroad, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Prime Minister's Office in New Delhi.
He has also worked as an international civil servant in the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. Recently Deputy NSA Vikram Misri has been made Foreign Secretary. In this category, the currently most senior Deputy NSA Rajinder Khanna has been promoted as Additional NSA. Now there are three Deputy NSAs and one Additional NSA in the NSCS. Prime Minister Modi has expressed confidence in Ajit Doval even in his third term and made him the National Security Advisor of the country. He has also been the NSA during PM Modi's first two terms.

Ajit Doval is a 1968 batch IPS officer. He has the rank of Cabinet Minister in the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Born on January 20, 1945 in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Doval was awarded the Kirti Chakra in 1988 for his distinguished services to the country. Ajit Doval is the youngest IPS officer to receive the Indian Police Medal.
Rajinder Khanna will look into internal security related issues
After these key appointments in the NSCS, now NSA Ajit Doval will be fully free to assist PM Modi on national security issues and other internal security related issues will be handled by Additional NSA Rajinder Khanna. Khanna, a 1978-batch officer of the Research and Analysis Wing Service (RAWS), served as the chief of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) from December 2014 to December 2016. Prior to this, he was in charge of the operations desk in RAW. He is considered an expert on Pakistan and counter-terrorism issues.
The NSCS deals with matters related to national security
Appointed as Deputy NSA in January 2018, Rajinder Khanna was previously the head of the Technology and Intelligence (T&I) department. TV Ravichandran, a 1990 batch IPS officer, currently oversees South India as the Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau. He was due to retire in August 2024. The second Deputy NSA is Pankaj Singh, who was appointed to the post for two years in January 2023. The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi serves as the apex body for all matters related to internal and external security. Its operational responsibility rests with NSA Ajit Doval.
