Due to such long holidays, the number of air passengers has suddenly increased and the economy class fare is also skyrocketing.

Aviation industry sources say that due to engine problems, supply system problems and financial difficulties, the number of flights in the country is not increasing rapidly. Due to this, a huge crowd of passengers is being seen on important air routes of the country. Due to this, the fare has increased. On Raksha Bandhan, air fares between Udaipur and big cities like Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai have almost doubled.

According to a Business Standard report, as per ixigo data, the average fare on the Bengaluru-Kochi route has reached Rs 3,446 between August 14 and 20, up 46.3 per cent compared to the same period last year. Airfares on the Bengaluru-Mumbai route have also risen to Rs 3,969, up 37.6 per cent compared to the same period last year. This year, airfares on the Delhi-Pune route have reached Rs 5,257 between August 14 and 20, up 22.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Amey Joshi, founder of Network Thoughts and a researcher on the aviation industry, says that on long weekends, people go for a few days' vacation or to meet their relatives, which increases the airfare. This year, there are more holidays from 15 August to Rakshabandhan. Aviation companies have not been able to increase their flights much for some time, so the ticket prices have suddenly increased on some routes.

Flights are not increasing in the country

Airlines in the country are not able to increase the number of their flights according to the need. According to sources, out of 383 aircraft in the fleet of the country's largest airline Indigo, about 70 are currently grounded. In August this year, the number of flights between Bangalore and Kochi every week is the same as last year, while the number of passengers is increasing. According to Cirium, a company that keeps an eye on the aviation industry, there has been a 4.8% decrease in the number of flights between Bangalore and Mumbai in August this year as compared to August last year.
