Air India Vistra Merger: The process of merger of Air India and Vistara Airlines is going on at a fast pace. The merger of both the airlines is going to be completed this year. About 18 thousand employees work in these two airlines. Out of these, 500 to 600 employees are going to be affected by this merger. Now Air India has started Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for these employees. All of them are part of the permanent ground staff.
Vistara and Air India will merge this year
Vistara Airlines, a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, will merge with Air India by the end of this year. An Air India official told Business Standard that after the merger, so many ground staff will not be needed. That is why the ground staff is being given VRS.
Employees can avail VRS and VSS
Air India said in a message sent to the ground staff that we are offering Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for employees with minimum 5 years of service in Air India and Voluntary Separation Scheme for employees with less service. Air India has not yet commented on the matter. Air India said in its message that all permanent ground staff except pilots and cabin crew can avail these schemes. Both the schemes can be availed till August 16.
AIX Connect and Air India Express will also be merged
Sources said that both the airlines are trying to retain as many people as possible. Some employees have been transferred to other Tata Group companies. However, some positions are no longer required due to the merger. Along with this, Air India's subsidiary AIX Connect and Air India Express are also being merged.
