New Delhi, 1 October (Hindustan Reporter). Air Chief Marshal AP Singh on Tuesday began his journey at the top post of the Indian Air Force by paying homage at the National War Memorial. He touched the feet of his mother Pushpant Kaur at the memorial and took blessings and saluted her. He was then given a grand ceremonial guard of honor by the air warriors at Air Headquarters, marking the beginning of his command and a new chapter for the force.
Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh paid floral tributes at the National War Memorial this morning to honor the sacrifices that inspire his leadership. He took over as the Air Force Chief a day earlier on 30 September. After assuming charge, he called upon the Air Force Commanders to pay attention to the current uncertain geopolitical situation, so that the Indian Air Force remains operationally capable, always alert and a credible deterrent. The Chief of the Air Staff called upon all air warriors to follow the traditions of great service and ensure that together we 'Touch the Sky with Pride'. Before assuming the post of Chief of the Air Staff, he was the Deputy Chief of the Air Force.

HAL congratulated Air Chief Marshal AP Singh on taking over as the Chief of the Air Force. During his career spanning four decades, the CAS has held staff appointments as Air Defense Commander at Headquarters South Western Air Command and Senior Air Staff Officer at Eastern Air Command. He has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM).
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh is an experimental test pilot who joined the fighter aircraft in December 1984 and has had an illustrious career spanning four decades. He is an alumnus of the National Defense Academy, Defense Services Staff College and National Defense College. He is a qualified flight instructor and experimental test pilot, having flown over 5000 hours on a variety of fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. His operational tenure includes Commanding Officer of a MiG-27 Squadron and Air Officer Commanding an Air Base. As a test pilot he led the MiG-29 upgrade project management team in Moscow. He was also the Project Director (Flight Test) at the National Flight Test Centre, overseeing the flight testing of Tejas.
