New Delhi, 08 April (HS). Air Force Boys Sports Squadron (AFBSS) has won four medals in the boxing competition held at Rohtak, Haryana under the Khelo India REC Joint National Talent Search Program for Junior Boys.
A total of 07 sports trainees of Air Force Boys Sports Squadron participated in the boxing competition held from 30 March to 06 April in Haryana. In the competition, sports trainee Shivam Dubey won gold medal in 48 to 50 kg weight category, sports trainee Shubham won gold medal in 75 to 80 kg weight category, sports trainee Priyanshu won silver medal in 44 to 46 kg weight category and 54 to 57 kg weight category. Sports trainee Surya won the bronze medal in the category.
Even before this, AFBSS has had great achievements. Aman Gulia won gold medal in Cadet World Wrestling Championship 2021. Ronit Sharma won silver medal in Under-17 World Wrestling Championship 2022. Divash Katare won bronze medal at Youth Boxing World Cup 2024. Anil Mor won the silver medal in the Under-15 Asian Wrestling Championship 2019. AFBSS was established in the year 2017 at Air Force Station Jalahalli, Bengaluru for the sports of boxing and wrestling. It is a joint venture between the Indian Air Force and the Sports Authority of India.
AFBSS aims to produce future Olympians for the country and work on the 'Catch Them Young' policy of the Sports Authority of India. A total of 40 boys are trained throughout the year to excel at national and international levels. Their schooling is through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
