Chandigarh: Punjab Police AIG Manjit Singh Sidhu has applied for premature retirement. According to the information, he was transferred from Bathinda High Security Jail a few days ago. It is learned that along with the retirement application, he has also submitted a demand draft of three months' salary. When AIG Manjit Singh Sidhu was contacted, he flatly refused to say anything on this issue.
Manjit Singh Sidhu, posted in Patiala Central Jail, has recently applied for premature retirement in the office of Additional Director General of Police. For this, he has cited domestic reasons. Due to which the discussion started that he is unhappy with the transfer. He said in his application that he joined the Punjab Jail Department as Assistant Superintendent on 5 December 1997. He has completed 26 years, eight months and 16 days of service till August 31, 2024.
Sidhu is considered one of the expert police officers. So far this year, three officers have taken VRS, including two IAS and IPS officers. IAS officer Parampal Kaur also took VRS for the Lok Sabha elections. After this, she contested the Lok Sabha elections on the ticket of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Similarly, 2015 batch IAS officer Karnail Singh and senior IPS officer of Punjab Police Gurinder Singh Dhillon have also taken VRS before the Lok Sabha elections.
