The largest railway station of Gujarat is Kalupur Railway Station of Ahmedabad. It is going to be rebuilt. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the virtual foundation stone for the reconstruction of Kalupur railway station on February 26 through video conferencing.
A new railway station will be built in place of the old railway station on the theme of Modhera Sun Temple of Mehsana. The new railway station will be as modern as the airport.
A target of 36 months has been set to complete this work. Work such as survey and relocation of the existing railway station to make way for the new railway station is already underway.
An elevated road network connecting Kalupur Bridge and Sarangpur Bridge will be developed 10 meters above the ground. This plan has been prepared keeping in mind the passenger traffic and location in the year 2060.
The multi-modal transport hub towards Kalupur will have a 16-storey building with two basements. There will be parking arrangements on the first six floors. Above these, there will be railway offices on the fourth and fifth floors. There will be passenger amenities on all upper floors.
A concourse 10 meters above ground level will lead to the Bullet Train station and the Metro station. The 35-acre project has a separate design for arrivals and departures. Since it is the main railway station of Gujarat, the work will be done in phases.
