Agriculture Minister inspected Gokul Gram and Cow Sanctuary | News India

Una, August 15 (HS). Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Prof. Chandra Kumar on Thursday inspected the under-construction Gokul Gram and Gau Abhyaar in Thanakhas under Kutlahar Assembly. During this, he did a detailed review of the maintenance of animals in the Gau Abhyaar. Kutlahar MLA Vivek Sharma was with him on this occasion. The Agriculture Minister reiterated the commitment of the state government to strengthen the Gau Abhyaar.

He emphasized on proper care and protection of animals in the cow sanctuary so that their health and safety can be ensured. He instructed the officials to ensure proper fodder and care for mother cow and immediate disposal of dead cow carcasses.

Let us tell you, the Agriculture Minister had come to Una to participate as the chief guest in the district level Independence Day celebrations. After the program, he visited Kutlahar assembly constituency along with MLA Vivek Sharma and emphasized on promoting agriculture and animal husbandry activities in the area and linking them with self-employment.

The Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister said that the state government is working to develop the milk-based business system in the state through the Him Ganga Yojana. Through this, the quality of milk purchase, processing and marketing system is being improved. Himachal is the only state in the country to provide minimum support price on milk purchase. The government has increased the minimum support price on cow milk from Rs 32 to Rs 45 per liter and buffalo milk from Rs 47 to Rs 55 per liter.

He said that the Himachal government is encouraging people to make natural farming a means of self-employment. The government has decided that wheat grown naturally will be purchased at a minimum support price of Rs 40 and maize at Rs 30 per kilogram. This minimum support price is the highest among all the states of the country.

During this, MLA Vivek Sharma thanked the Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister for bringing about extensive changes and modernization in the structure of agriculture and animal husbandry in the state. Apart from this, he asked the Agriculture Minister to ensure the availability of modern machines and equipment in Zonal Hospital Barnoh so that the people of the area can get its benefits as soon as possible. He also requested for the arrangement of a separate transformer for smooth supply of electricity in Zonal Hospital Barnoh.
