Varanasi, 04 November (HS). Agricultural scientists from BHU reached UNUSA, Indonesia to find solutions to the challenges of salt-affected soils. Dr Rajeev Pratap Singh, Associate Professor from the University's Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development (IESD), will join the University of Surabaya Nahdlatul Ulama (UNUSA) in Indonesia for a discussion with faculty, students and agricultural experts on a research visit. These interactions aim to leverage Dr. Singh's extensive experience in environmental sustainability to address issues affecting both countries. There will also be exchange of knowledge on strategies to tackle soil erosion.

According to BHU Public Relations Officer, Prof. Singh will be associated with this research project conducted in collaboration with Dr. Edza Aria Vikurendra of UNUSA till 09 November. During this, plant-microbe interactions in salt affected soil will be explored. Which is a cause of increasing concern for agricultural productivity and sustainability in many regions. Dr. Singh has his expertise in organic soil amendments, which will be valuable in assessing their role in improving soil health and agricultural resilience under saline conditions. This research visit not only represents a valuable step towards addressing serious environmental challenges, but also strengthens the academic relationship between India and Indonesia.
