T20 World Cup 2024 champion Team India is stuck in Barbados due to storm Beryl. The Indian team was to fly to New York on Monday to come to India, but the team's schedule has been disrupted due to bad weather. The report said that due to storm Beryl in the Atlantic, winds are blowing at a speed of 210 km per hour. This category 4 storm is about 570 km away from Barbados. East-south wind was blowing and due to this the operations at the airport are still suspended. The situation is such that the airport has been closed for a day.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in Barbados that we are also stuck here like you. Once the itinerary becomes clear, we will think about the team's felicitation ceremony. It is being told that according to the scheduled schedule, the team was to go from Bridgetown to New York and then reach India via Dubai. Now there is a plan to take a chartered flight directly from here to Delhi. After reaching there, their meeting with Prime Minister Modi is being considered. There are about 70 members including support staff, family and officials.
Let us tell you that the Indian cricket team won the title by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 played in Barbados on 29 June. This victory helped Team India as well as cricket lovers to forget the pain of defeat at the hands of Australia in the final of the ODI World Cup played in Ahmedabad seven months ago (November 19, 2023).
