Gros Islet, June 25 (HS). Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh praised his teammate Kuldeep Yadav and called him a champion spinner after India won the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight match by 24 runs over Australia.
Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets and conceded 24 runs in his four-over spell at an economy rate of 6.00. Arshdeep Singh took three wickets and conceded 37 runs in his four-over spell at an economy rate of 9.20.
In the post-match press conference, Arshdeep said that Kuldeep always performs well while playing for India, and he is also an important player for the team.
Arshdeep said, “Kuldeep is a champion spinner. Whenever he gets a chance, he performs well and he has always been on the wickets and even today he was bowling from the hard end and even against the wind, he managed to bowl at a pace of almost 6 per over and took important wickets. So, he is a really important player in our team and we are looking forward to learning everything from him and we hope he takes a lot of wickets.”
He further added that their motto as a team is to adapt to the conditions of the stadium. He also pointed out that the Men in Blue got 'good support' from the wind when they were bowling in the second innings.
He said, “Our goal as a player and a team is to adapt to the conditions. When we were bowling from this end, we were getting good support from the wind and the ball was swinging. But when you are bowling from the other end, you have to run in the opposite direction of the wind and you have to see that the batsmen were trying to hit shots from that side and sixes were going from that side – so what is your defensive option and how should you bring the wind into play and how should you be defensive from that side and how should you attack from this side, you also have to pay attention to that.
Talking about the match, in this match, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and invited India to bat first. After Virat Kohli (00) was out early, Rohit Sharma (41 balls, 92 runs, 7 fours, 8 sixes) played a stormy innings, he got good support from Surya Kumar Yadav (16 balls 31 runs, 3 fours, 2 sixes), Shivam Dubey (22 balls, 28 runs, 2 fours, 1 six) and Hardik Pandya (17 balls 27 runs, 1 four, 2 sixes) and India scored a big score of 205 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.
