Mumbai: Selling was witnessed in global markets as well as Indian stock markets today due to uncertainty resulting from renewed geopolitical tensions over Syria. The surge was overshadowed by profit-taking as funds moved away from new big purchases. Funds bought IT-software services, technology stocks as well as metal-mining, realty stocks offset selling in capital goods companies. Along with this, selective attraction remained in small and midcap stocks. In a two-way collision, Sensex ranged between 81727 and 81182 and closed at 81510.05, up 1.59 points. While Nifty spot fell between 24678 and 24510 and finally fell 8.95 points to close at 24610.05.

Metal stocks rise on China’s stimulus: Jindal Steel rises by Rs 31
