Nearly six years later, a major legal twist has come in the case of the mysterious death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former celebrity talent manager Disha Salian. Following strict orders given by the Bombay High Court raising serious questions on the primary investigation of Mumbai Police, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has formally registered the First Information Report (FIR) in this high-profile case. The High Court has directed a senior CBI officer to be given direct command of the investigation to ensure impartial and timely monitoring of the case. Just two days before this new legal action by CBI, Disha’s father Satish Salian had appeared before the officials of the investigating agency and recorded his detailed and sensational statement, which has created a huge uproar in the political circles of Maharashtra and the Bollywood industry.
In the official statement recorded before the CBI, Disha Salian’s father Satish Salian has claimed that his daughter’s death was not a simple suicide or an accident, but a deep and organized criminal conspiracy was hatched behind it. He alleged that by using influence, a false story was created and spread to make the entire incident look like a suicide and important evidence from the incident site till the post-mortem was suppressed, destroyed or fabricated. Satish Salian has demanded from the investigating agency that a thorough criminal investigation should be conducted against all the influential faces involved in the alleged crimes, conspiracy, falsification of forensic records and deliberate diversion of the investigation so that the real truth can be revealed to the public and the court.
The names of several high-profile politicians, Bollywood actors, businessmen and senior police officers have been included in the detailed statement given by Satish Salian to the investigating agency. Among the prominent persons whose role has been sought in the statement are Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, his father and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, Disha’s fiance Rohan Roy, actor Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Aditya Thackeray’s security guard, actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty. Apart from this, doubts have also been raised on the role of the then Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, dismissed police officer Sachin Waje, the then DCP Vishal Thakur and several investigating officers of Malvani Police Station, and a demand for investigation has been raised.
Immediately after registering the FIR, the Central Investigation Agency has come into action mode and has written an official letter to the Malvani Police of Mumbai and has summoned the original case diary, crime scene panchnama, statements of the panchayats and all the technical records related to the death of Disha Salian. The CBI is also keeping an eye on the activities of the doctors, staff, investigative analysts of the Kalina-based Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and security guards of the Regent Galaxy Building responsible for the alleged undue delay in the post-mortem process. It is noteworthy that in June 2020, Disha Salian died under suspicious circumstances after falling from a multi-storey building in Malad, and just a few days later, on June 14, 2020, the body of actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found in his Bandra flat, after which there has been a huge outcry across the country regarding the connection between the two cases and a demand for a high-level investigation.
