After the defeat against PBKS, KKR captain Shreyas said – this is a big lesson for the players

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer said that it is sad not to be able to defend the huge score of 261 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS), but the defeat will be a tough one for the players in their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. The match between KKR and PBKS broke many records, in which Punjab managed to cross the highest score of 261 runs in T20 history with 8 balls to spare.

Iyer praised his openers Philip Salt and Sunil Narine who helped them post a mammoth target of 261 for 6 in 20 overs, saying the way the batsmen batted was “tremendous”.

The 138-run partnership between Narine and Salt was the 8th 100-plus opening partnership for KKR in the IPL.

Salt played an explosive inning of 75 runs in 37 balls, while Narine played a brilliant inning of 71 runs in 32 balls, in which Shreyas Iyer made a brilliant contribution of 28 runs, while Venkatesh Iyer played a lively inning of 39 runs to give KKR a strong innings. Reached the score.

The KKR captain also said that they will analyze their performance against PBKS and find out what went wrong for them at the Eden Gardens.

Iyer termed star all-rounder Narine as his team's 'most valuable player' and said there is a lot to learn from the former West Indies player.

Talking about the match, batting first in this match, KKR team scored 261 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. For KKR, Phil Salt (75), Sunil Narine (71) scored half-centuries, followed by Vektesh Iyer ( 39), Andre Russell (24) and captain Shreyas Iyer (28) played solid innings to take KKR beyond 250.

In reply, Punjab achieved the target in 18.4 overs thanks to a century by Jonny Bairstow (108 not out) and explosive innings by Prabhsimran Singh (54), Riley Rosaev (26) and Shashank Singh (68 not out). KKR will next face Delhi Capitals (DC) at Eden Gardens on Monday.
