Rakesh Daulatabad, an independent MLA from Badshah constituency of Haryana, died of a heart attack on Saturday. Many leaders of the state, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed grief over the death of the independent MLA. Daulatabad's death has also dealt a big blow to the BJP. It has become difficult for the Saini BJP government of Haryana, which has already reached minority support, to prove majority.
The Saini government, which is facing the challenge of proving majority, had the support of an independent candidate. After the death of an independent MLA, the number of members in the 90-member Haryana Assembly has come down to 87. Accordingly, the support of 44 MLAs is necessary to prove majority. The ruling BJP has only 40 MLAs. Apart from this, they also have the support of Halopa member and independent MLA from Prithla, Nayanpal Rawat. BJP currently has the support of 42 MLAs. BJP still needs the support of two MLAs to prove majority.
Three independent MLAs withdraw support from Patch
The BJP government also had the support of some other independent MLAs. But in the last few days, the difficulties of the Saini government have increased due to the withdrawal of support by three MLAs Dharamveer Gondar, Somveer Sangwan and Randhir Gole. Earlier, JJP, a party with 10 MLAs, also broke ties with the BJP. However, BJP still says internally that it has the majority. It is being told that some JJP MLAs are in touch with the top leadership of the BJP. A look at the results of the Karnal by-election Along with the Lok Sabha elections, a by-election was also held on the Karnal assembly seat. Nayab Singh Saini is contesting the by-election on that seat. If he wins, the number of BJP members will increase to 41. But on the other hand, five Congress MLAs are contesting the parliamentary elections. If any of them wins, the Congress MLA will also have to resign. If this happens, the equations of the Haryana Assembly will change again. In such a situation, everyone's eyes are on the results coming on June 4.
