After Sushant case, a mountain of troubles fell on Rhea Chakraborty’s family, father lost his job; She said- ‘Because of the surname…’

After the demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, what his alleged girlfriend and actress Rhea Chakraborty had to go through has been one of the most controversial chapters in the Indian media and film industry. Rhea’s life had completely changed after serious allegations after Sushant’s death, long interrogation by central investigating agencies and being in jail for weeks. However, now Rhea Chakraborty, who is slowly returning to normal life, has expressed the pain of that dark period in her recent statements and podcasts. He revealed that the most devastating impact of the entire affair was not only on him but on his entire innocent family where his father, a retired army officer, even lost his job.

Social boycott of the family and loss of father’s job

Rhea Chakraborty told that the tremendous media trial and storm of allegations that started in 2020 had scattered her cheerful family like straw. His father Indrajit Chakraborty, who retired from the Indian Army as a decorated Lieutenant Colonel and later worked in a senior position in a private corporate organization, suddenly lost his job without any fault. According to Riya, due to immense pressure from society and media, the company had taken resignation from her father. The entire family was so socially ostracized that even old friends and relatives were reluctant to come to their house or talk to them on the phone.

‘Chakraborty’ surname became a cause of trouble

During the conversation, Riya became very emotional and mentioned the tragedy that her close ones faced because of her surname. Riya said that the situation had become so toxic during that period that just having her name or ‘Chakraborty’ surname associated with it would become a problem for a person. If any member of his family went out to buy groceries, for bank work or for any work and people came to know that he was related to Rhea Chakraborty, then people would start looking at him with suspicion and hatred. Brother Shouvik Chakraborty also had to go through a long legal battle and jail torture, due to which his entire young career and studies came to a halt.

Mental shock, trauma and those dreadful nights in jail

Rhea admitted that that period had pushed her and her entire family into deep post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. Recalling the experience of 28 days spent in Byculla jail, Rhea said that staying alive and maintaining hope behind the bars was the biggest fight in the world. While outside, hatred was being spread against him on TV channels 24 hours a day, inside the jail, he understood the simplicity and real meaning of life among the prisoners. Riya said that that painful period completely eliminated the fear of death and infamy from her.

New beginning of life with ‘Chapter 2’

Leaving behind the dark and difficult times, Rhea Chakraborty has now started ‘Chapter 2’ of her life. She has started her own podcast, where she candidly discusses life’s struggles, mental health and re-invention with celebrities. Along with this, she is re-making her place in the industry through modeling, brand endorsements and fashion shows.

Riya says that whatever happened to her and her family can never be forgotten, but she has stopped seeing herself as a ‘victim’. Riya believes that the greatest strength lies in standing tall and the unbreakable unity of her parents and brother gave her the courage to come out of this biggest storm.
