Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The dates of Lok Sabha elections have been announced. Voting will take place in seven phases. All political parties are busy preparing for this. Discussion on alliance and seat sharing is going on. But meanwhile, BJP's alliance talks in Punjab have failed. After this, BJP has announced that now the party will contest the next Lok Sabha elections alone.
BJP President gave this information
Bharatiya Janata Party has announced to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections alone in Punjab. There was no talk of alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar gave this information through a video message. Jakhar said that 'this decision has been taken on the basis of the opinion of the people of the state and party workers.' It is noteworthy that voting for 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab will be held on June 1. According to sources, there were differences between BJP and Akali Dal regarding seat distribution, due to which both the parties could not negotiate on alliance. Akali Dal proposed to contest elections on nine seats and offered to give the remaining four seats to BJP. However, the BJP sought more seats due to the widespread popularity of Prime Minister Modi.
Earlier in 2019, SAD had fought against BJP.
It is noteworthy that earlier, SAD had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Punjab with BJP as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). But both sides were unable to achieve any significant results. Congress won eight out of 13 seats. Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur seats were given to BJP. Akali Dal won Ferozepur and Bathinda seats. Aam Aadmi Party won the Sangrur seat.
Before this there was no alliance in Odisha
Earlier, meetings were going on between Bharatiya Janata Party and Biju Janata Dal in Odisha for several days. Meanwhile, there was talk that both the parties would contest the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections under an alliance. But BJP failed on this issue and the alliance could not be formed. In Odisha too, BJP has announced to contest the elections alone.
