After murder of wife in Ludhiana, husband committed suicide by hanging, police engaged in investigation | News India

Ludhiana : There was a sensation in New Ramnagar area of ​​Gayaspura on Monday afternoon when a husband committed suicide after killing his wife. On coming to know about the incident, the people of the area immediately informed the police of Sahnewal and Chowki Giyaspura. Police also called the forensic team to the spot. Initial police investigation has revealed that the deceased first strangulated his wife with a rope and then went to another room and committed suicide. The police have taken the bodies of both of them in their custody and kept them in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital. The police is investigating the matter seriously.

The deceased have been identified as 37-year-old Amarjeet Singh and his wife Mamta, residents of Ramnagar street number 12. ASI Dharminder Singh, in-charge of Giaspura police station, said that the deceased Amarjeet Singh used to work in a factory. He lived with his wife and two sons in his own house in a different area from his brother. Both the children went to school on Monday morning. From behind, Amarjeet first strangulated his wife with a rope, then went to another room with the same rope, tied a rope to the fan handle and committed suicide by hanging himself. The incident came to light when neighbors knocked on the door of the duo in the afternoon as they had not come out since morning. After which Amarjeet's elder brother was called and the door was opened. After which, seeing the inside scene, the people of the area started making noise and the matter was informed to the police.

ASI Dharminder Singh, in-charge of Giyaspura police station, said that as soon as the information was received, he reached the spot with his team. Where he saw that the dead body of woman Mamta was lying on the floor of the room. In the store room adjacent to the same room, Amarjeet's body was hanging from the fan handle with the help of a rope. According to the police, before committing suicide, Amarjeet strangled his wife with a rope, then went to another room and committed suicide. Further action will be taken after the post mortem reports of both the bodies are received.
