Kiran Chaudhary joins BJP: Congress has suffered a major setback in Haryana. Former Chief Minister Bansi Lal's daughter-in-law Kiran Chaudhary and his daughter Shruti Chaudhary have resigned from the Congress. Both of them submitted their resignation to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge yesterday. Today at 10.30 am, they joined the BJP at the BJP headquarters in the presence of Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini and former CM Manohar Lal Khattar.
The party has become a private fiefdom…
In their separate resignations to Kharge, Kiran Chaudhary and Shruti Chaudhary indirectly targeted former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda and alleged that the party office was being run as a 'personal fiefdom'. Shruti Chaudhary was the working president of the Congress in Haryana. Assembly elections are due in Haryana in October this year.
Who is Kiran Chaudhary?
Kiran Chaudhary is the daughter-in-law of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal and an MLA from Tosham in Bhiwani district. Now that the elections in Haryana are near, her joining the BJP is likely to strengthen the party in Haryana.
Kiran can be sent to Rajya Sabha
Kiran Chaudhary has also been the Deputy Speaker in the Delhi Assembly. A Rajya Sabha seat has become vacant due to the victory of Congress candidate Deepender Hooda from Rohtak, if an agreement is reached between the BJP leader and Kiran Chaudhary, she can also be sent to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana. After Kiran Chaudhary joins the BJP, Congress will lose an MLA. However, Kiran said that both she and her daughter have joined the BJP unconditionally.
