After heavy rain alert, holiday declared in schools in many districts of the country

In many states of the country, the weather patterns have suddenly changed completely once again. In view of the heavy rains, thunderstorms and red-orange alert issued by the Meteorological Department (IMD), district administrations of many states have taken major precautionary measures. Keeping in mind the safety of school children due to continuous monsoon torrential rains and waterlogging on the roads, orders have been issued to keep educational institutions closed in all the districts. Normal life has been affected to a great extent due to continuous rains in many other parts including Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand, after which the administration has immediately declared holidays in schools. This question remains constant in the minds of parents and students that for how long will the schools remain closed in their city and area and whether the holidays can be extended further.

Following the warning from the Meteorological Department in many major districts of Uttar Pradesh, all government, aided and private schools from class 1 to class 12 have been closed on the instructions of District Magistrates (DMs). Due to continuous rains in dozens of districts including the capital Lucknow, Ayodhya, Barabanki, Bareilly, Aligarh, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Kanpur, the conduct of classes has been postponed keeping the safety of children paramount. In some districts, holidays have been declared only for primary classes (classes 1 to 8), while in many sensitive districts, strict instructions have been given to keep all board schools up to class 12 completely closed. However, at many places it has also been clarified that despite the leave of students, teachers and school staff will remain present in the school for administrative work.

Weather havoc in other states including Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, examinations postponed in many places

Apart from Uttar Pradesh, due to heavy rains and flood like situation in Chhattisgarh state also, the government has taken a big decision. Due to continuous rains and rising water level of rivers in many districts of the state, holiday has been declared in schools in many districts including Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur and Kanker. Along with this, in view of bad weather and waterlogging, quarterly and internal examinations going on in schools at many places have also had to be postponed, due to which students are waiting for new dates. Similarly, in many other districts including Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, yellow and orange alert has been issued regarding the danger of heavy rain and lightning, due to which the district administration has ordered the classes to be closed keeping in mind the safety of small children.

Important advice for parents and students

If you also live in cities where continuous rains are continuing, then before leaving the house or sending children to school, definitely check the official bulletin of your respective school administration or local district administration. Since the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain activities to continue in many areas for the coming few days, the holiday period may be extended further considering the local conditions. The administration has appealed to citizens and parents to avoid going to any emergency or waterlogged areas and stay in safe places only.
