On the occasion of Mahashivratri, people offered prayers at four o'clock in the night in Shiva temples across the district. Among the Shiv devotees who perform four-hour puja, Nitin, Kunwar Pratap Singh, Manit Sharma, Anmol Sharma, Shubham Sharma told that for the last many years, they have been doing four-hour puja at night on Mahashivratri festival in the Shiv temple located in Kende village of Panchayat Basantpur of Kathua. Are. He told that during the four-hour puja, Shiva devotees offered milk and Ganga water to the Shivalinga and performed the puja as per the rituals. Devotees take bath in Shiva temples during every puja. Mahashivratri special puja starts in temples after 9:00 pm. The first puja started around 9:30 and ended around 12:00. Before the start of the first puja, devotees of Shiva take bath and then sit for this puja with the puja material. In which Ganesh puja, Nograha puja and then Shivlinga is worshipped.
Similarly, after a rest of about half an hour, the second puja starts in which Shivalinga puja is done directly after Ganesh puja. Similarly, the same puja is done in the third puja and in the fourth puja, devotees of Shiva take bath once again and this puja also takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. In these four Pahar Pujas, Shiva devotees who worship throughout the night perform Havan in the morning and later a huge Bhandara is organised. People coming from different parts of the area took Prasad in Bhandara. Shiv Temple Committee member Jodh Singh said that like every year, this year also on the occasion of Mahashivratri festival, havan and langar were organized after four o'clock worship at night.
