Vikram Rathod, who played a key role in helping the Indian team win the T20 World Cup 2024, has been appointed as the batting coach of IPL team Rajasthan Royals. In such a situation, Vikram Rathod will again work with Rahul Dravid, who has become the head coach of this team. Rathod will join Dravid and bowling coach Shane Bond in the backroom staff of the Jaipur-based IPL team. Before making a career in coaching, he played 6 Tests and 7 ODIs for Team India.
The pairing of Vikram Rathod and Dravid has been excellent for Team India, where the team, apart from winning the T20 World Cup, also made it to the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup and at one time became the number one team. 55-year-old Rathod has worked as the batting coach of the Indian team from 2019 to 2024. Apart from this, he has also coached the teams of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket.
Dravid is also happy with Rathore's appointment
His long-time friend and Rajasthan head coach Rahul Dravid expressed happiness over his inclusion in the Rajasthan team. He said, 'I am looking forward to making Rajasthan Royals a world-class team and winning the IPL title.' On being included in the Rajasthan team, Vikram Rathod said, 'It is a privilege to be a part of the Royals family. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work again with Rahul and now with a talented group of young cricketers. I am looking forward to contributing to the team's vision and working towards our goal of reaching the top.'
Only one title in Rajasthan's account
After winning the IPL title in 2008, Rajasthan never won the trophy again. The team made it to the final of this league two years ago, but then lost to Gujarat Titans in the final. The BCCI has not yet announced the retention rules for the IPL 2025 mega auction. The mega auction is expected to take place at the end of November, so Rahul Dravid, Vikram Rathod and Shane Bond will have about two months to shape the Rajasthan team.
