Rajsamand, July 22 (HS). The 350-year-old tradition of Ashadhi weighing in Shrinath temple in Nathdwara predicted the business, crops and rainfall for the whole year. After this tradition that took place after Gwal Darshan on Monday, it was predicted that this time the state will have a good crop. But, there will be less fodder for animals. At the same time, it was claimed that there will be good rain. While regarding the wind, it was claimed that this time the effect of the winds from the western direction will be more.

The temple priest Dr. Paresh Nagar Pandya told that 27 types of grains and materials were weighed on Sunday evening and kept in the grain store. The forecast for the whole year has been made on the basis of the increase or decrease in the weight of the material during weighing. This time the weight has increased in the Ashadhi weighing. This tradition has been followed for 350 years in the Kharch Bhandar of Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara every year on Ashadha Shukla Purnima. There is no written history of this, but it is said that Shrinathji came to Mewar from Braj 352 years ago. He stayed in Sihad village. On Vikram Samvat 1728 (20 February 1672 AD), Shrinathji was seated on the throne in Nathdwara. This tradition has started since then.

According to this tradition, a total of 27 types of materials are weighed including 22 types of rice, black and red soil, salt, jaggery and fodder. The next year's production, trade and weather are predicted from this weighing. This is called Ashadhi Taulna.

The paddy and materials that were weighed on Sunday on the full moon were weighed on Monday morning at the time of Gwal Darshan of Lord Shrinath in the presence of Shreeji's chief pandya, kharch bhandaari and employees. Shreeji's chief pandya Dr. Paresh Nagar said that this year the grain yield will be high. There is a possibility of rain with thunder more than normal. According to the language of the forecast, compared to last year, this time there will be five anna rain in Aashadh, four anna in Shravan, three anna in Bhadrapad and four anna (percent) rain in Asoj. That means this time the rain will be more than normal. Also, due to the wind direction being west, there will be a period of rain with strong wind and thunder.

Dr. Nagar told that the weight of two kinds of material cotton and red gara (animal) was equal. Their production will remain the same in the coming year. There has been a decrease in the weight of grass. At the same time, the weight of 24 kinds of material has increased. There are signs of increase in these – green gram, white corn, yellow corn, millet, sorghum, white sal, red sal, small chamala, thick chamala, white sesame, black sesame, black sesame, urad, moth, cluster bean, barley, wheat katha, wheat chandrasi, yellow gram, red gram, yellow mustard, red mustard, jaggery, salt, black gara (soil). Here black gara (black soil) is considered a symbol of human being and red gara (red soil) is considered a symbol of animal.

Farmers in nearby villages sow crops based on this forecast. Grain traders also plan their stock based on this forecast. While doing Ashadhi rituals, temple priest Dr. Paresh Nagar Pandya, expense storekeeper Dinesh Purohit, expense storekeeper assistant Fatehlal Gurjar were present in the expense store of the temple premises.
