Meerut, 28 September (HS). Angry farmers have camped at Partapur police station due to the rejection of 102 nomination papers in the sugarcane committee delegates elections. On Saturday, farmers fried pakodas in a frying pan. BKU leader Rakesh Tikait may also join the farmers' protest. The farmers have announced to carry on the agitation until the nomination papers are restored.

At present, sugarcane committee elections are going on in the state. BJP intends to capture as many sugarcane committees as possible. There are 143 posts of delegates in the elections of Mohiuddinpur Sugarcane Committee. 255 candidates filed their nomination papers for these posts. After scrutiny of nomination papers on Friday, the papers of 102 candidates were rejected citing deficiencies in their papers. Due to this, the farmers got enraged and along with the workers of Bharatiya Kisan Union Tikait, they started a dharna at Partapur police station.

BKU workers alleged that the nominations were canceled under pressure from State Minister of State Dr. Somendra Tomar. Under the leadership of BKU District President of Sugarcane Committee, Anurag Chaudhary, the supporters started creating ruckus. Police and administrative officials reached the police station in the night itself and started convincing the farmers to end the strike. BKU leaders said that all nomination papers should be reinstated. Action should be taken against those who fraudulently cancel nomination papers.

SSP Dr. Vipin Tada, SP City Ayush Vikram Singh, ADM Administration Balram Singh, SDM Sadar Kandarkar Kamal Kishore Deshmukh etc. officers reached the spot and tried to convince the farmers. On Saturday, farmers lit a frying pan in the police station and fried pakodas and ate them. Along with this, also prepared tea. The farmers alleged that the nomination papers of the farmers were canceled under the pressure of the ruling party.

BKU leader Vijaypal Ghopala said that the ruling party has captured the entire election. Preparations have been made to conduct the entire election unopposed by canceling the papers of the farmers. We will not let this happen. If the slips are not restored there will be a big movement. BKU leader Rakesh Tikait may also join the protest on Saturday.
