AFG vs NZ: Rain spoils the match, for the first time in 91 years | News India

The only Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand cricket team was washed out by rain on the fifth day as well. Due to rain, not even a single ball could be bowled in the 5-day match and the toss could not take place in the match. This has happened for the first time in India's 91-year cricket history. This is the eighth time in the world that a Test match has been cancelled for 5 days without playing a single ball. This has happened 7 times before as well.

All 5 days matches were cancelled

This cricket match between Afghanistan and New Zealand was to be played at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida. In this test match played from 9 to 13 September, the toss could not take place due to rain and wet ground and a decision had to be taken to cancel the match every day.

This happened for the first time in India

The first Test match in India was played in 1933. Since then, India has hosted a total of 292 Test matches in its 91-year history. But this Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand became India's first Test match in which no ball could be bowled for five days.

This has happened for the eighth time in the history of Test cricket

In the 147-year history of Test cricket, it has happened only 8 times that a Test has been cancelled without a single ball being played. This is the first time in 26 years that this has happened. The first time a Test match was cancelled without a single ball being bowled was in December 1998, when the matches between Pakistan and Zimbabwe and New Zealand and India had to be cancelled on the same day in Faisalabad, Pakistan.
