Mirzapur, 12 October (HIST). The Sharadiya Navratri fair ended on Friday with Kanya Puja. Devotees flocked to see the Siddhidatri form of Maa Vidhyavasini on Navami. Devotees engaged in rituals since the first day of Navratri performed the oblation amidst chanting of Vedic mantras. The ritual was concluded by worshiping the Kalash established in homes from the first day of Navratri as per the rituals. The process of arrival of devotees started in Vindhyadham from the night of Ashtami. After Mangala Aarti on Saturday morning, not only Vindhyadham but the entire Vindhya mountain was buzzing with devotees.
The devotees who reached Vindhyadham took a dip of faith in the Ganga to purify themselves before worshiping Mother Vindhyavasini. After this, people queued up for darshan and worship, taking coconut, chunri, garland and flower prasad from the decorated shops in Vindhyadham. With the cheers of Maa Vindhyavasini, the devotees slowly moved towards the temple. Some from the tableau and some reached the sanctum sanctorum and worshiped Mother Vindhyavasini. After darshan and worship of Maa Vindhyavasini, the devotees bowed to all the gods and goddesses present in the temple premises. After this, the devotees set out towards Vidhya Parvat to have the darshan of Maa Ashtabhuja and Maa Kali. The devotees performed darshan and worship and circumambulated the triangle on foot. The devotees once again visited and worshiped Mother Vindhyavasini and prayed for happiness and prosperity. In view of the security arrangements during the Navratri fair, non-district policemen started returning only after noon on Friday. There was a large crowd of devotees lighting lamps for the Mother's Aarti and performing Havan to conclude the rituals. Shopkeepers did not hesitate in charging arbitrary prices. Sharadiya Navratri concluded safely.
