Lucknow, 14 October (HS). The 30th Managing Committee meeting of the Mid Day Meal Authority was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh.
The Chief Secretary said that every student studying in the schools covered by the scheme should be given additional supplementary nutrition of the highest quality. Food items should be purchased as per the standards set at the local level.
In the meeting, approval was given to the proposal of 'additional supplementary nutrition' one day a week to all the students studying under the limit approved by the Government of India in the schools covered under the scheme in all the districts of the state in the financial year 2024-25. This additional supplementary nutrition will be provided to all the students every Thursday (total-19 school days) from November, 2024 to March, 2025.
Additional supplementary nutrition: Depending on local availability, peanut chikki or jaggery-sesame-peanut gajak or amaranth (ramdana) laddu or millet laddu etc. (minimum quantity of 20 grams for each student) or roasted gram (for each student) (in minimum quantity of 50 grams) will be given to each student. For this, the rate of Rs 5 per student per day has been fixed. About Rs 95 crore will be spent on this, of which Rs 57 crore is the central share and Rs 38 crore is the state share.
Director General School Education Kanchan Verma and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
